Set during a dark chapter in the history of India, SHADOW KILL is a moving drama that examines the life of a hangman. Responsible for the execution of more people than he can remember, Kaliyappan (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) struggles to continue with his job as he wrestles with his conscience. Having recently hanged a man who turned out to be innocent, Kaliyappan has slumped into heavy drinking and deep depression, and balks at the chance to perform yet another hanging. Trying every trick in the book to postpone the execution, director Adoor Gopalakrishnan piles on the tension as the film reaches its conclusion, with Kaliyappan desperately searching for a way out of his cursed occupation.
